Turtles in the sun

Ridgefield Wildlife reserve. My camera is a Fujifilm X-T2 with a 100 - 400 zoom, a 2x teleconverter. For this photo I used auto ISO (1250), my speed was 1/125s (quite slow) with aperture at f11. The zoom too my lens to 800mm.

Splish Splash!

In lovely warm sunlight, cool calm waters these ducks were bobbing and dipping and in general have a grand time splashing around, cleaning themselves and preening. I forgot to reset my camera for action. This was shot at 1/250! it should have been at 1/1000 at least. You can see that the image is not crisp. I should not have my speed below 400 for this lense (100- 400 mm zoom)

My camera was still set at speed 1/250 s - way too slow to catch the movement of this duck cleaning itself clearly. I needed to have at least 1/1000 s

Poser

A beautiful clean mottled duck. I had taken a whole series of images of these ducks ducking under the water, having a good wash. Then I realized that those were all a bit unfocused or fuzzy. I checked my settings to see I had forgotten to put my speed back up from the low setting of the photo before. So now with the speed at 1/1250x I got a much crisper shot.

Nothing better than a good bath

At Ridgefield Wildlife Preserve. Camera settings: fixed ISO 1250, speed is 1/1250 s, f11. If I had my speed up a bit faster, say around 2000 or even 4000 I bet I would have got those wing tips frozen in focus - at least that is what I tell myself!

A mottled duck. Caught in mid stretch while having a bath. Ridgefield Wildlife Reserve. My camera is still set at speed 1/1250s .

A cow in the reserve

We had never seen cattle in the spot they were at in Ridgefield Wildlife Reserve, had to capture this one. My equipment: Fujifilm X-T2, 100 - 400 zoom with 2x converter which gives me 800mm zoom. Fixed ISO 3200, Speed - 1/1000's, aperture f11. A faster speed gives me a greater success rate at that distance and allows for any inadvertent movement of the subject.
