Giant Owl Butterfly
The 'owl eye' is self explanatory as to how this butterfly gets its name. Pretty amazing patterning. They are found in the rainforests and secondary forests of Mexico, Central, and South America. Owl butterflies are very large, 65–200 mm (2.6–7.9 in).
Postman Butterfly
Red, white and black Postman Butterfly. The postman butterfly has large long wings (35–39 mm). It is poisonous and the red patterns on its wings are an example of aposematism - warning predators that is is toxic, distasteful or dangerous.
White Tree Nymph Butterfly
Origin is South East Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and North Australia). Part of the Swallow-tail family.
Green Moss Peacock Butterfly
Hailing from Southeast Asia, the green moss peacock butterfly is also known as the Emerald Swallowtail. Not very startling in flight - though when this butterfly lands it shows off! Check out the iridescent sparkling green on this beauty.
Brown Clipper Butterfly
These butterflies are found in south and southeast Asia, mostly in forested areas. The clipper is a fast-flying butterfly and hard to capture with the camera. Happy to have caught this one resting.
Red and green Macaw
These large birds are from South America. The red-and-green macaw attains a total body length of 90 to 95 cm (35 to 37 in)
Blue and Yellow Macaw
Also from South America, the blue and yellow macaw is slightly smaller. These birds can reach a length of 76–86 cm (30–34 in) . This guy was using the palm leaves as part of his preening routine.
