Some of my favorite Bird photos, taken in the Northwest of America
Great Blue Heron in the evening light
This image of the Great Blue Heron was captured later in the day when the warmth of the sun emphasized the stillness of the moment. It was in winter so the days were short.
Canadian Geese in winter light
Taken at the Ridgegfield National Wildlife Refuge, 30 minutes from my home. I love the wamth of the light.
Two Trumpeter Swans on the wing
I love the light under their wings and the warmth light catching them against an impossibly blue sky
Trumpeter Swans in Flight
I caught this flock heading up into the blue sky in the late light
9 Trumpeter Swans above the clouds
Coming home to roost for the night
Swans in late light
Photograph of a flock of swans in the late light coming in to roost
A bald eagle silhouetted by a hint of pink clouds
Red Winged Blackbird in spring
There is a hint of spring showing in this blackbird's landing spot.
Red Winged Blackbird
Caught this little guy singing his heart out sitting on a post at the Reserve this spring
Red Winged Black Bird in the wind
A red winged black bird swaying in the wind - quite a catch!
Reflections of a GBH
Caught this great reflection of a Great blue heron - the water was so still it is like a mirror
Bald Eagles on the look out
This is a pair of Bald Eagles that live near us. They have a favorite tree near our home that they love to sit in and surveill
I see you
A red tail hawk taking a careful look at us
Caught this baby owlet glaring at us out of one eye. His mum was across the road watching as well.
Little seagull on the rocks - I believe it to be a Ross's Seagull. As difficult as black is to photograph, white can give quite the challenge too.
