I heard something mom!

This cute lion cub had been feasting on a kill and now hanging out with the pride right next to us. It was first light in Ngorongoro Crater with the light gently kissing him.

The Big Clean

A perfect tender moment between mother and cub as she cleans it up after a heavy nosh up and then a roll in the mud.

I've got my eyes on you!

While taking a lunch break in the Ngorongoro Crater there is a popular spot for picnics next to this lake where the hippo hang out. I got down as low as I could and got eye to eye with this fellow. Glad he wasn't mad at me!

Photo taken on the road to the Serengeti Park during migration. There had been a lot of rain so many deep pools and streams of water were evident. Calving season was in progress and we happened on a large number navigating this pool.

This is the companion lioness to the one showed first. These two females came very alert and started to move toward us and toward something only they could hear and see.

We came across a pride of lions lolling about in the afternoon sun. Suddenly two of the females came very alert and started to move toward us and toward something only they could hear and see. The same leopardess who was in the grass. Was trying to encourage the youngster up into the tree for a nap. Not happening, it was too interesting in bouncing around in t he grass below.

I love rollers. All the colors of the rainbow and this one was really posing for us, taking rest by the side of the road.

We were out late afternoon on the Serengeti in a remote spot and went through a little wooded area. There sitting in the shadows was this gorgeous hoopoe waiting to show off for us.

Sunrise touched Crowned Crane

With the sunrise just over the horizon this beautiful crane hung around long enough to give us many golden hued photo opportunities

Being able to catch the rim light on this crowned crane, with early sunlight catching both his crown and the tufts of grass. A perfect morning!

On the Serengeti plains there are quite a lot of these beautiful birds. One of my favorites for sure. I love the crown, the eyes, all of it.

Wandering around our picnic site I snuck up on this shrike looking for its own lunch.

Black Shouldered Kite

Captured this little kite while having breakfast in Ngorongoro Crater. These are small raptors with red eyes, can often be mistaken for a kestrel when hovering above the plains. However in comparison the kite has quite a short tail, note how far the wings extend beyond the tail.

Variable Sunbird

A variable sunbird (about 4"/11cm), with all his beautiful iridescent feather reflecting the light. This was outside our room at Gibbs Farm, Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.

This is a road we travelled on into and out of the Serengeti. It epitimizes the vast space that is the Serengeti Conservation Area and our wonderful visit there

If you look at this quickly it is a story of a small group of Zebra. However tucked in there, safely out of sight is their ever present companion - a Wildebesst. Perfectly at home with his zebra chums

On our way out of the Serengeti, heading home, we had to stop for this beautiful gold studded sight, with a smattering of wildebeest for good measure

Gibbs Farm is an amazing place just before you get to Ngorongoro Crater. A former coffee plantation, they still have coffee. However they offer these incredible gardens and flowers too. These lilies were just outside our balcony
